RHODE ISLAND OPERATES AS A TESTING SITE FOR CORONAVIRUS!
The whole world has been made to lock its doors shut & stay put due to the coronavirus pandemic & Casino gaming world is no exception. There are no gaming events & public gatherings are a sight of the past, at least until we fight off this corona monster!
However, as a goodwill gesture, the Rhode Island Casino has been offered to the government to be used as a free coronavirus testing site.
As reported by Governor Gina Raimondo, the Twin River Casino is to be converted into a rapid COVID-19 testing center. A press release by the state was conducted to announce that the Abbot ID NOW has begun its testing & the results are made available under 13 minutes.
Dr. Troyen Brennan who is the Executive VP & Chief Medical Officer Of CVS Health said, “The average person will get their results in about 15 minutes after they’ve had their test.”
Tests are done on all days by CVS and the site is open for the public. The Governor said that the state’s testing capacity will increase by 2-fold with the help of this site. On average thousand tests are being carried out in the parking area of the casino. The testing site is open on all days of the week.
Raimondo reported, “Today marks a giant leap forward in our efforts to combat this virus. Thanks to the partnership and generosity of CVS Health, we will be able to double our testing capacity and provide on-the-spot results to thousands of Rhode Islanders each day. Making testing rapid and readily available is the key to slowly reopening our economy, and today we are one step closer to that goal.”
CVS Minute Clinics licensed healthcare officials are to assist the testing at zero cost as said by the State. At Georgia CVS is conducting a similar rapid test.
